Performance Art in NYC

Another great article by Claudia La Rocco on the NYC dance/performance scene. Something we never get around to discussing here - but this our failing not performance's. Anyway even better than the article is the comments thread with discussion about subsidising and payments for performers.

This kind of discussion - about the scope and standing of 'festivals' or regular surveys, is just as pertinent to the fine arts. In performance it seems works get squashed into tiny spaces, 10-15 minute turns, and priority is always for the tried and true. There are uncomfortable parallels with art fairs, biennasties and Tate compliance proofs.
