Maybe no RCA because its post grad only, dont know about Slade.
How do they judge them anyway?

Some of them sound REALLY flipping obscure. Is this some sort of a joke?!

I've now put the link in the above post Jimmy.
Post-Grad-only colleges you would think rate a mention somewhere in the list - an asterisk or column of whatever. :?
There's loads of others missing - Central, St Martins, Chelsea, Camberwell - can they all be Post-Grad only these days? Or are they bundled under University of The Arts, London (I know Camberwell is) - but this only figures at No. 37!
The positioning of UCL high on the list had me wondering whether that includes The Slade? If not, what foundation course in painting (as opposed to history of art) is offered by UCL these days?

It's been many years of course... Maybe I'm just out of date. :(

I'm out of date fo sure!
OK, so those London colleges have been lumped in under UCL, i think you're right but don't they still have seperate identities anymore? Shouldn't they be rated individually? Is there one humungous London Art College now?
And what's the deal with Oxford? Does that refer to the Ruskin?
And how do numbers 3,4,5 and 6 rate higher that Glasgow, Goldsmiths etc.? Bizarro.

Maybe we should ask JJ about Ruskin...
But it is a weird listing!
As you can see from the leader - they are talking about people becoming fine artists - not just designers or art historians - and yet it's hard to see where the brownie points for half these places (Falmouth? Falmouth?) come from. I don't recall anyone querying this list either - which is odd, especially for The Guardian.
Maybe real art schools simply don't bother with the paperwork for this sort of shit.
On the other hand, it is published as an aid to prospective students, so presumably there's enrolments/fees as a payoff somewhere. :ugeek:

The Ruskin: mellow mists and fruitfulnesa, in my old day it was a good art school, have no idea if it's still creme de la creme. Someone told me you need three As to get in, which seems an irrelevant criterion.
