The Delhi Jazz Festival which was started in 2011 is a unique festival that attempts to bring together Jazz from different countries on one platform. ICCR and SEHER once again have joined hands for the first ever truly International Jazz festival in Delhi. This year, some of the top notch jazz bands from across the globe are participating in the three-day festival including WOJTEK MAZOLEWSKI QUINTET (Poland), HFT (India), THE LOUIZ BANKS MATRIXX (India), DINI VIRSALADZE QUARTET (Georgia), MOONARRA (India), EOL TRIO (France), MAGOS HERRERA (Mexico), BICA-DAERR-STICK TRIO (Germany) and ELKANO BROWNING CREAM (Spain).
The idea of webcast LIVE –on all three days has made this festival truly global as more than 8,500 people in 21 countries have watched this first ever LIVE Web cast of an Indian Cultural Festival held in India last year. People from France, USA, Germany, Belgium, Pakistan, Morocco, Sweden, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Singapore and many others have got an insight into one of Delhi’s most well attended Cultural Festivals ever.
Says Suresh Goel, DG, ICCR: “The impressive success of the first Delhi International Jazz Festival last year which was witnessed by about 10,000 people in Nehru Park has inspired the second Delhi International Jazz Festival at the same venue. The success of the first International Jazz Festival in Delhi established beyond doubt that the Delhi audience has a very broad horizon and eclectic taste for music. It also established that the youth of Delhi appreciates Jazz as was never understood before. We are confident that the second International Jazz Festival organized by ICCR with SEHER as a Creative Director will find an equally enthusiastic response from all sections of the Delhi audience. Both International and Indian bands for the festival have been selected with great care keeping in mind the traditions as well as the contemporary trends. Governments of France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Poland and Georgia have partnered with great enthusiasm in this musical journey or adventure initiated by ICCR for this year.”
