STRANGE WEATHER MAKES ITS DEBUT AT TURQUOISE COTTAGE ON JANU

New Delhi: A young band, Strange Weather makes its debut at Turquoise Cottage, 47, Basant Lok Market, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi on January 15, 2012 from 8 p.m. onwards. Strange Weather presents a soulful, energetic and eclectic mix, ranging from Funk to RnB to Swing to Psychedelic to the Blues and so, pay homage to those who inspire them. Entry free.

Says Gaurav Soral, owner, Turquoise Cottage: “It seems like an interesting young band. True to our commitment to great music, even if it’s unknown and undiscovered, Turquoise Cottage continues to nurture upcoming talent. It’s not very difficult to tell, that this will be a good band to listen too, we’ve witnessed the spunk of the band’s vocalist, Udayraj in one of our Wednesday jam sessions aka The Rabbit Hole Sessions.”

At the helm of the band is singer, songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player, Udayraj Singh, who has been studying multiple genres of music such as the Blues, Funk, Rock and Jazz. He founded the band ‘Lazy River’, that played shows in some of the most popular venues in Delhi, including Cafe Morrison, Haze Bar, TLR cafe etc.

Another member of the band is Jayant Manchanda, Grade 8 Bass player, is a seasoned Bassist on the city’s music scene, and has been playing with Delhi based bands such as Soul Samvaad, Souled Out, Station, Overture, Rishi Inc, Zinc, Chokfite, On the Trail, Trizya, Astikam, Bridge to Elsewhere, Plok, Resonance. He has also shared the stage with acclaimed artists like Sharad Srivastava, Gyan Singh, Praduymna Singh
Manot, Adil and Vasundhara, Rajesh Prasanna, among several others.

On the Drums is Bhanu Thakur who is also a part of the Hindi fusion band Visharad, and has also been associated with well known artists such as Ripple Barauah and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Keeping the beat alive, he teaches at the Dwarka School of Music, and the Decible Academy of Music.

With solos at festivals in AIIMS, JMC, Hindu, St. Stephens to his credit, Shashank Chandak has also been a vocalist for bands like Overture, Nosebleed, Doppler Effect, and BCM performing at venues including ‘Blue’ in CP , TLR Café, Co-headlined
Limit Festival and Café Morrison.
