Back by popular demand, The LooP will be the second solo art exhibit, courtesy of Japanese born painter- Tokio Aoyama - within the UK’s capital.

This exhibit will feature exclusive paintings from his 2013 "Dogu" art series and the yet to be released publication project with Grammy award winning music producer Shafiq Husayn.
Inspired by painters such as Salvador Dali, Mati Klarwein, Basquiat and Frida Kahlo, Tokio also channels the essences of nature, peace and love through his art embodied by musicians such as Bob Marley, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Stevie Wonder and Doug Carn.

Tokio Aoyama’s LooP exhibit will be infused with ancient Japanese mythology, tradition, and shamanistic rites; known to captivate the viewing public into an aesthetically enchanted realm of birth, life, death, transformation and reincarnation. His art tastefully creates acrylic realities where ancient astronauts in alien spacesuits dance to the sounds of modern millennium musicians.

His work was recently featured at the Tate Modern, the artwork was subsequently commissioned by London griot- Akala for his newly released album Thieves Banquet. Not only has the power force from Japan (affectionately dubbed as ‘Tokes’) cultivated strong ties in Europe, but he can also be found networking in the USA, most recently Los Angeles- while socialising with and building ideas with the likes of Snoop Lion and George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic family.

Tokio’s art is a visual representation of soul and the philosophy of his life. This not to missed exhibition sees him mixing myth, music and the meditative states of consciousness he is inspired by into a palette of soulful visionary art.

The LooP exhibition is being sponsored by The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation and the Japan Foundation and aims to serve as a positive cultural artistic exchange between Japan and UK artists, as a means to break down social and cultural barriers using creative arts.
