Our Man In Havana by Graham Greene

Yes I've gone greene. I am intrigued by his mastery of narrative, which stops short of being profound in any kind of psychological or other insight. But perhaps the entertainment (he called some of his books entertainments) is the thing, it is the heart of the matter. Another buttoned up Greene hero with some queasy connections to power.
