Makes a big impression with great sentences and bilingual verbal dexterity, all the the Dominican spanish broke the flow for me, I get the idea though, but made me feel like I was reading Dora the Explorer. The nerd references etc pile up with the Dominican stuff, and it does make for a dense exciting wordy read. But, and there a lot of buts in this, Diaz never makes you feel really sad during the sad bits because the characters are flat.
