mediocre painting(s) sell for lots of money Francis Bacon

a, the triptych is not that great, as with lots of bacon it looks modern and cool without being very interesting, and uses his hackneyed devices, this is why they appeal to art students and rich people.

b, so what, lots of money hyping up prices so the super rich can make even more money

c, it's a triptych which means that it's three paintings which much have bumped up the price at least three times

I think it's in part because it's a portrait of Lucien Freud (School of London double whammy). It's not my favourite Bacon (a George Dyer or Isabel Rawthorne would get my billions) but it is from the 60s - his golden period. :ugeek:

The money's probably Russian or Chinese - i.e. criminal. :?
