William Scott at the Jerwood hastings

Cap's reviewed the drawings, here's a show of the weird splayed figures, they look like road kill. Not bad like a lot of these old British farts, and with distance and no longer invidiously compared to matisse picasso pollock guston they're not bad: timid too small perhaps rusty colours, why did english artists stick to easel painting. Not all that good... a deadish end, a lovely meal in venice, drunken buffers in jackets, provincial. Ah England before thatcher! A frisson from hardly painting figures with a worried line.
