Yinka Shonibare at Stephen Friedman

This opening reminded me how white the art world is, there were actually some non-white people at this one.The work is the usual, mannequins in african fabrics which haven't moved on since I saw them about a decade ago. There were a lot of rich folks and important curators etc standing round gaping at this unchallenging "political" work as though they were really pleased to see some mild critique of global capitalism. Ah yes they love the artist doing their little politcal dance for them, it makes them feel better.
