Manet Portraying Life @ The Royal Academy

Wildly inconsistent and frankly overrated. He had a few high points but way too many duds. He may be one of those artists that it's hard to see what all the fuss was about, subsequent developments completely revise his context. But this show does nothing for his reputation, apart from toy with the role of portraiture in his tableaux of contemporary life.

As far as blockbusters go this is on the meagre side. :?
