Humphrey Ocean at The National Portrait Gallery

I liked this show, the paintings are fluent with an odd solidness given to them by I guess colour and the use of gouache. They are quick portraits with the odd drip and chunky hands and the figures get bigger at the bottom, as though gravity is dragging them down. Just portraits perhaps but better than most of the wooden cloddy stuff in the rest of the contemporary part of the NPG.
