I enjoyed this show of someone I once or twice met about 17 years ago. The paintings have intensity and humour. They are of bits of hairy men and paint is applied pain stakingly to give a feeling of physical reality. Sometime you wish for some faces, but it makes a change to see men objectified and chopped into bits. The hair technique makes the paint look like hair which is clever, but perhaps does not to be reiterated, when she paints a hand against a leg, and the hand is sun ruddy and the leg pale then you feel a little exhilaration of something really seen.
