Hirst is so hyped up and knocked down that it's hard to see clearly. I found his art disappointingly repetitive and visually flat en masse. The butterflies, vitrines of dead animals, cigarettes, pills and spots (why not acne medicine?) just don't add up to much more than cliched metaphors for life, death,pleasure, futility. Even writing the words feels more profound than looking at his attempts. The hatching steam room of butterflies is fun but hardly Nabokov. It all looks a bit worn out and picked over, like life. Boetti makes pleasant rugs. Kusamas late paintings are pretty good and her installations really do pack a punch of vision/madness. Overall the threesome is underwhelming, oh for a nice show of paintings to take me away to other places and strain the eyes.
