GEORGE SHAW: midlandish royal college realist, dab hand with enamels, his drab landscapes have a certain spirit of the overlooked. the turner prize is at the baltic, the judge is from the baltic, and shaw has a show at the baltic on now. coincidence?

KARLA BLACK: stockholder of our time, junk artfully hung.

"MARTIN BOYCE who holds the viewer with atmospheric sculptural installations, combining references to design history and text, marked by a subtle attention to detail." Sounds facinating, I love references and subtle attention to detail.

"HILARY LLOYD who combines still and moving images, sound and the three dimensional forms of AV playback equipment to portray the urban environment."
Ah the urban environment, what we norms call cities.

Haven't looked carefully at the others work so just quoted from website! http://www.balticmill.com/whatsOn/future/ExhibitionDetail.php?exhibID=148

Old Dickie D over at the T seems to think Boyce will take it. Although I'm a little disconcerted by his description 'There are two Scots and there are two men and two women.' I know Jocks can be a (wee) bit out there, but I hadn't realised they were actually a different species. 8-)
