Well Dormouse seems to be playing the Catholic card here so I'm obliged to side with Surly.
A fiendish dilemma!
Haven't been to the retro, shan't be going.
But my sense is that the Hirst love-fest is well and truly over.
Here.
It's a shame it's taken this long to get around to a career survey for Damien. The whole fabrication/commission/installation thing has gone off the boil, Mike Nelson? Maybe but who wants to go all the way back to Damien at this point? But then he was a late-comer, (see Koons etc) it's only fitting he should be a late-goer.

And Hans Pietsch @ http://www.art.magazin.de seems to agree with me, amazingly. Pietschy! Google translate this item very roughly: Hirst now nothing more than an establishment bauble. Pietsch mentions Julian Spalding being barred from the opening and playing to the cameras with an "Art is about open debate" speech, while the Tate, typically is about shutting it out, maintaining denial. That much is clear to the Germans.
