The Wallace Collection London

Lots of old paintings, including gainsborough, watteau, fragonard, lots of rooms shut so that's wasn't so good. Older folk having tea in expensive cafe. Hushed tones. All these old paintings, especially canaletto and gaurdi so formulaic, even the others like that, just draw it out and fill it in, paint by numbers. So alien to contemporary art in general (much painting still like that) a weird activity and somewhat dispiriting.
