I take it you are referring to Maev Kennedy's piece in The Guardian on Tuesday? -
http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/ ... sfeed=trueI didn't notice this item in the Reviews Forum before commenting on it under Art News.-
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10675Just what the debate is over, is unclear - apart from the fact that Hirst commissions or fabricates work, while Hockney does all his own painting (although uses assistances in his etchings and lithographs and at other times sanctions computer printers for valid proofs of unlimited editions). The comments thread is far more interesting since it quickly takes apart Kennedy's own rationale for the article and reveals the Guardian's standard for art criticism, as once more - seriously sub-standard!
