A Brooklyn-based site by Hrag Vartanian, mainly concentrating on local reviews. Hrag’s style a bit too pussy-footing, softly, softly for my liking and the prominent warning that comments will be vetted puts me off but that said the threads are generally thoughtful and provocative.

Hyperallergic sort of runs in tandem with Brooklyn Rail – some of the same personnel involved in both sites – but without the greater range of BRail or the hard copy. It’s handy for tracking trends in that part of the world, clocking echoes, reinforcement, Twitter and such.

It’s like WWR but without the global scope and negativity (depriving you of vital food groups right there). It has images, ads and stuff though and it’s more popular with the mainstream and social networking.

So, weak basically.
