Hurwundeki Cafe London , cambridge heath road

I googled trendy cafe cambridge heath cafe as I couldnt remember the silly name. This cafe raises the question whether cool dalston london field hipsters really want to go into the service industry, once they have got over the thill of creating estabishments in their own image. There are nice things...

Peter schjeldahl

http://www.newyorker.com/online/multime ... ow_cezanne

PS thinks Cezanne's dull. So he says in his review. He's wrong of course. The paintings are still alive. He's right about Modernism seeming antique. It's a relic.

New Masterchef and what to watch

Despite the silliness still pretty good and worth a look. There's about 3 things on tv to watch a week, madmen (new series will be on sky  , masterchef and episodes (now over)...Is it just me or is tv in a downturn?

James Blunt

Everytime I am listening to a shuffle of music, i hear something really good, and lo and behold it is britain's posh boy laughing stock... Blunt, without prejudice, is actually very good.

John Updike The Music School

No great lover of short stories but in Updike who is now complete, dead, so no more words, you will find sentences that take you somewhere, a moment truely and newly described, in a city or small American town, and leave you euphoric with satisfaction at what art can do.

James Lee-Milne Diaries 1942-1954

Oddly mesmeric. Just Lady this Lord blah, visits to country houses. That's all really. Permeating with immense snobbery and casual anti-semitism. Manifested as the very posh are very good and beautiful, Jews are without exception ugly and bad. Poor folk are good if they are properly poor, peasants o...

Episodes a comedy

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... _Episode_1

Not as bad as I was thinking it was goingto be. It's quite watchable. Not larry sanders or even the trip, but still good, in a sort of not that clever knowing obvious way. All the main actors are quite charming and carry it.

Darren Aronofosky's Black Swan

Lurid, prurient, melodramatic, yet despite its flaws a good movie. Prissy Natalie Portman is well cast as mummy's girl ballerina competing for the lead, and although there are schlock horror LOL moments, especially our heroine learning to masturbate (Portman seems too perfect to do this sort of thin...

Re: George Condo in the recent new yorker

Amusant. Usuaul New Yorker puff piece masquerading as serious journoism, we see how rich he is and what an amazing skill meister he is? and how is wife is very pretty, and he is sort of annoyed he is not as expensive as John Currin. Not online.
