Re: Susan Hiller's Tate Britain exhibition is dismal

Hey Jude was written by Paul McCartney. He wrote the song for John Lennon's son Julian. John and his wife Cynthia were splitting up and the song was Paul's way of trying to comfort young Julian or, as he called him "Jools". They decided that Hey Jude sounded better than Hey Jools. If Paul ...

Re: Waiting for Godot, St Paul's School, circa 1997

Waiting For Godot is an incredible play. The relationship of the two main characters keeps changing. One minute they are father and son, then they are brothers, then are a double act, then they are rivals etc. It's a play full of great ideas, great jokes and great quotes. I can't go on with this rev...

The Boxer

I keep seeming posters for it that say it's the best boxing film since Rocky. All the critics give it 4 stars. Has anyone on here seen it yet?

Re: Gregor Muir takes over at ICA

I saw Gregor's show at the Tate and wasn't impressed and I read half of his tedious book. I don't think he will be much help to the ICA or anyone really

Alan Johnson resigns

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/8273337/Harriet-Harman-Alan-Johnson-a-great-loss-to-British-politics.html The problem with so many politicians in Britain is that they seem to lack experience. Nick Clegg is a classic example - he has never had an actual job. Alan Johnson's departu...

Re: Elvis Lives

I prefer the Welsh Elvis (Tom Jones) to Mr Costello. Is that unusual? No Kitty, it's not unusual . I've played my Elvis at Sun records millions of times. Sometimes I go through phases where I over do it with records. For example I playerd Big Star too many times and had to leave it alone for a few ...

Re: Sofia Coppolas Somewhere

I think she is talented and that Somewhere is an enchanting film. Sofia is a mother of two whose made four great films before the age of 40. People slag her off because they think her films are only successful because her Dad helps produce and fund her films. They don't realise that F.F.C produces a...

Re: Geoff Dyer versus Jonathan Franzen

Has anyone noticed how hard it is to get a book by Geoff Dyer that hasn't been personally signed by him. Gilbert and George are the same. They sign everything.

I quite like Rock a Hula. Have you ever heard The Shrimp song? I think it's on the Girls, Girls, Girls soundtrack album.
