Re: Saatchi says the artworld is shit

http://featherblend-grandarttours.blogspot.com/2011/12/arbiter-of-taste.html Charles Saatchi’s recent deluded rant about the “vulgar and vile” art world was misguided because all he seemed to do is bemoan his standing in the upper echelons of uber rich art collectors. I think this is distasteful in...

Re: Saatchi says the artworld is shit

He is a muppet. Jasper I'm interested in the limits of criticism you (as a collected artist) can go to before it affects your career. If you publically called Saatchi a dipshit could he completely ruin you? (if you were hypothetically dependant on him - not assuming you are) Or would he take it? - l...

Re: Gerhard Richter at Tate Modern London

Anybody can copy anybody else - thats not worthwhile. The trick is to be the first one to do it or to get the recognition for doing it. Richter has done that.

http://featherblend-grandarttours.blogspot.com/2011/11/gerhard-richter-panorama-tate-modern.html "For Baudelaire Manet was the painter of modern life, for me Richter is the painter of modern life"* I don't think I would say Richter is my painter of modern life but I would say his masterfu...

Re: marlene dumas at frith st gallery

Thought the paintings were dwarfed by the huge brick walls and they were not that effective anyway. Messy, washy, blotchy painting which lacks energy. Dull emotionless portraits of well known figures not that dynamic. I'll take Degas in the dark anyday...

Re: Ryan Mosley Exhibition - Facebook Debate Transcript

Hi CAP Thanks for the support. I have just found it surprising that this is the response of such a well known art critic. I think he has done a lot to maintain the hostile nature of it in order for himself to look calm and rational - a trick I have fallen for a bit because it has been offensive. But...

Re: Ryan Mosley Exhibition - Facebook Debate Transcript

And more.... Matthew Collings You're continuing with assumptions that I can't account for. I'm not criticising your thoughts for being your own. I'm hanging with you for fun. Stephen Feather It has been fun. But if what I have said is deluded then that implies that I myself must be deluded - your ba...

I know!!! and it continues.... Phil King At last count Matthew has 3305 friends many of whom are quite vocal in disagreeing with him.. the response you've gained here has been quite extreme.. the offer to set up a firing squad and a potential one person suicide frenzy.. as well as... a number of peo...

Re: Ryan Mosley @ Alison Jacques Gallery

I have copy and pasted a transcript of that debate on a separate post.
I can see similarities with Mosley and Doig - I like Doig too, unfortunately not seen that many of his works in the flesh.

Thanks : )

Stephen Feather Hey Matthew, incase you don't get to see the Ryan Mosley show I have done a bit of a blog if you get time/ interested - I thought you might like as he has painted some beautiful colour relationships. Re: Ryan Mosley @ Alison Jacques Gallery

Hi Sorry it may be that you have to befriend Matthew Collings on Facebook to see it - I have used what I feel to be the main points he said in my blog at the end though. I have to say I am not an art critic or professional or anything but I just like an opinion to be explained and that is what I was...

Ryan Mosley @ Alison Jacques Gallery

In Heavy Bouquet a chequered figure is caught walking mid stride into a hazy surface surrounded by tadpoles. Clouds of chalky paint blend into each other. Yellow into green, green into blue, blue into pink to make up the flat surface which the figure and tadpole motifs float on top. It is clear we h...
