They are not that flat. I'm not sure if that is if because he is a bit left handed (as in he doesn't have much control in the application). 
One thing I must say is that the Blue Rider paintings and the ones in the last room are considerably more interesting than those 
shit paintings. Ofili clearly got to a stage where it was just a process to present an illustration, masked by layers. When the layers 
went, the images became clearer, more developed and with a greater narrative. Good new work Ofili.
