Review:

This book by BANK about BANK is a blow by blow account of their activities in London and beyond from their beginnings as
slightly bored and mischievous college graduates in the late 80's, sending flyers for imaginary exhibitions (such as Abstract
Expressionist Embroidery at Lisson Gallery and Ceramics Now at Waddingtons) through their projects and the reasons behind
them (particularly reactionary of the career minded yBa bunch) at their galleries BANKSPACE, DOG and GALLERIE POO POO. It
also presents their ambitions and aims, their shows outside of their own gallery and the history of The Bank tabloid.
It ends with a solo show in 2000 of the BANK Fax Back project in New York.
This is an interesting alternative to the well trodden yBa tabloid/Tate/Saatchi friendly bonanza and a really valuable resource for
any artist looking beyond the vacuous gloss of the Frieze friendly collector market.
You can get it on Amazon for £4 and I recommend you do.
