Review:

Is this the future? 3D is still what I remember it, sort of theatre flats all lined up with space between
them. So a close up person looks like a cut out placed in front of the screen. The real world isnt 3D, it
is but we don't think about it and every little bit of it is three dee. Anyway the good thing about 3D is
that the 3D makes everything weirder and you stop think about the CGI graphicness of the made-up
stuff. The creatures and forest and helicopters ARE magical in this, and despite the Starwars meets
the smurfs meets the emerald forest meets an eco-cartoon corny romance-adventure plot, the whole
shebang is engrossing for over 2 hours. The other odd thing about threedimensional cinema is that
the screen gets smaller, and so even a big screen is shrunk by the tech. You don't get the
cinemascope effect and your eyes look in a different way. There is something beautiful about
everyone sitting there in their silly glasses (like the nineteen fifties) but I am not sure this IS the future,
in the end we get used to amazing effects, it's stories that keep us watching. However massive
budgets and marketing need event pictures, and new gimmicks get us to the movies.
