From: Harry Pye Category: Music Date: 08 November 2009 Time: 04:12 AM Review: Last night at a really cool and intimate venue in Islington called The Lexington in Angel I experienced Big Sexy Noise. The singer is called Lydia Lunch and she was really wild and fun with a lot of New York attitude. The band are basically Gallon Drunk who I've seen several times now and they never fail to put on a great show. They've been going since the 90s. When they started their biggest fan was Morrissey who insisted they tour with him and join him on the first Madstock. More recently Nick Cave has got them to be honoury Bad Seeds. All of the band were on fine form and really tight but the man of the match was sax player Terry Edwards who was once in the 2-Tone band The Higsons. Terry's hero was Davey Payne from The Blockheads and when Terry goes for it you get that same excitement as when you hear Ian Dury songs like Hit Me or Blackmail Man. Big Sexy Noise ended their set with a cover of a great Lou Reed song called Kill Your Sons. The place went wild it was brilliant. http://www.lydia-lunch.org/news.html
