From: Sighnomore, ladies Category: Art Date: 04 August 2009 Time: 01:46 PM Review: Interestingly and perhaps coincidentally the gender ratio of the altermodern exhibition is similar to the results of research done in the United States, women still have roughly one opportunity for every four of the opportunities open to men, also the pattern can be seen in the solo exhibitions at the Tate Modern. There have been 22 solo exhibitions by men compared to 5 solo exhibitions by women. In terms of monographic publications those dedicated to one woman averaged about one quarter the total number of one person publications. The writers of this research note that "while an overall rise in the number of publications dedicated to female artists is certainly encouraging, the comparison of that number to the number of publications dedicated to male artists tempers ones' optimism".
