From: foundling Category: Art Date: 29 June 2009 Time: 11:03 AM Review: A show of political, satirical medals from the 16th century to the present (well they asked some top trendy British artists to design something) is on display at the British Museum. The detail and use of depth is quite incredible in the old stuff while the contemporary medals are crude in comparison. There is also a certain ugly mechanical precision in the contemporary medals, which jars the eye. Of the contemporary artists Felicity Powell stands out as much the best, while many of the others are probably too rich to bother. The artists are: Steve Bell, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Ellen Gallagher, Richard Hamilton, Mona Hatoum, Yun-Fei Ji, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, William Kentridge, Michael Landy, Langlands and Bell, Cornelia Parker, Grayson Perry and Felicity Powell
