faith in fakes is a funny exhibition in an odd place full of old paintings. harris shows signatures of
famous artists on unopened atlantis canvases, and Jesus pictures painted in red wine (whic are
successfully sacred and profane). These hang amongst 100s of odd antique shop paintings, fakes,
and a ragbag of old looking art. It's a good place for this work. Harris's work ethic, he likes meticulous
painting is always a contrast to his love of mischief and tomfoollery. He shows a video of a psychic
advising him what Francis Bacon wants him to paint, but the result is an arresting video and a stiff
painting. You wonder what Mr Harris would do if he was more irreverent with the acutal paint, not the
framework.
