Review:

Updike, dead, is rightly celebrated for the great achievement of the rabbit foursome, his others books
often disappoint in comparison. Missing him, I read this, and was disappointed, it is a two track
novel, President Buchanan and 1970s university letcherer, as usual one narrative has more bang,
guess which, and the familiar topics of ageing, defeat, and seeing women as sloppy vaginad aliens.
Not great.
