Review:

Picasso and all the great painters who he liked. Simple Idea. Great Show. Imagine seeing late
Picasso nudes next to Manet's Olympia and Goya's naked maja. This is what is there. Picasso is
immensely frustrating, he is carefree, careless, seemingly always drawing, never painting, the
invention and confidence of his line means he never really learnt to paint, not just fill in or decorate.
Punters gawp at Picasso's academic studies, not more exceptional than many of his forgotten
contemporaries, and feel as though they can now admire his childish scrawls which they hate.
Picasso doesn't seem very nice or friendly or someone you want to get to know, he is coldly a great
painters making paintings that reward looking like the masters he loved.
