Review:

This is a not a very good novel, most contemporary novels are not very good. The words jar, you are
overly aware of the author striving for effect, and the source material is transparently taken from
shallow research on the net or a couple of lunches with relevant folks. Theroux's book is a silly thriller,
you imagine he probably once watched or made a documentray on boxing and then combined this
with a middle class journalist character, and bingo you have a fast moving work of genius. Makes you
wonder, nepotism, nah, lots of people called theroux write bad literature.
