From: J-art Category: Art Date: 20 November 2008 Time: 11:18 AM Review: An entry fee of a few pounds is required for this show, and in upping the ante they have made everyone a little more stuffy, as though a fiver means that you have the right to glare at small children talking, or for the attendants to act as they are protecting a nuclear bomb crossed with the sistine chapel. Sadly Ben Nicholson is really not worth the the reverence, he is a minor minor painter in the british tradition of tasteful rehashing of radical european art movements. He draws the seaside bourgeoisie like flies to shit, marvelling at his muted tones, cubist pastiches, and twiddly landscapes. Actually quite a good nicholson show in a lovely gallery in a lovely locale. Pity about the grumps.
