Review:

Watched this 3 hours 40 minutes monster over a few nights. The first few nights I fell asleep but if I
watched it sitting up, I could take more of it in.
It was interesting to see how a royal person lived, the court etiquette, the ins and outs of being the
king of bavaria in the late 19th century. This was all lovingly interwined with classical music and
picture-perfect shots. He seemed a complex person, not being able to do things without complete
passion, be it his cousin Sissi, Richard Wagner or being anti-war. I admired him and sympathised
with his folly, especially inviting an actor to spend time with him and play his favourite roles. I try to do
that with my friends. I didn't get bored, I was waiting for evidence of Ludwig's madness, didn't he
invite his horse to the dinner table? Perhaps he was just eccentric, who knows where the line lies?
