Violent and scary, with a special brooding whine to signal the downbeat chaos of life now. Too many male good guys is the main flaw, I was hoping one was going to turn out to be a baddy. There was a real sense of anticipation in the audience, and without being frantic, attention was held throughout. You get a sense of 9/11 terror, and a bit too much ropey philosophising by the Joker. And perhaps too many grand themes but overall a million times better than most recent big movies.
