Review:

This was a weirdly entertaining tale of the change of the centuries' values (18th to 19th) romance. All
quite off centre for costume drama, and watches like Stendhal or something. The male lead looks like
he has stepped out of Ingres, the last (old) mistress out of Goya. The film is a collision of painting
styles. And the similarities betweeen pain and pleasure love and hate are well brought out. Yes, a
thinking film worthy of your vision.
