It should try to do less, not more and stop doing things that are supposedly obligatory, like having an editor's intro and commissioning articles. Currently, it is printed on glossy paper, but the quality of image reproduction is poor. Not sure the glossiness is helping much, but better graphics might make the difference. Smaller images with a lot of black in them work best. Chaplin said comedy is life in longshot. Large (tragic) closeups are not working well, but could be if used in a more extreme and strategic way. Multiple fonts are not working well either. Pick one font for body text. Reproductions of paintings don't work at all and should be left out. Reproductions of drawings and watercolours work better. It should be more like puffin post was when I was a 12 year old member of the puffin club. Do headlines/titles as hand drawn illustrations or pick a really decent font. 'done on computer' is the current depressing bain of graphics. It means it hasn't been thought about - like a cheap marketing leaflet for an accountancy firm in Swindon. If anyone has a good idea, put it in. Don't run things just because your friends with people or trying to keep them sweet. Break up the text more, unless you have a really good reason for putting in a large chunk of text. Make every page good and then it will be good.
