From: fried Category: Art Date: 06 March 2008 Time: 10:37 AM Review: you need your head examined clem. doig represents the middle-class perversion of all modernism/s gains. from pollock you get a paint effect flicked with a toothbrush, from rothko you get the stain of the hobbyist working on a nice piece of furniture. They are pretty pictures, much laboured on, something to look at, oh what a beautiful surface, oh look at the funny textures AND it's a picture of a skier that looks nice and realistic. ooh you know they're worth 50 million pounds. ooh lets take the kids for a day out at the doigs. Gauguin did it all hundreds of years ago, better.
