From: tell Category: TV Date: 28 February 2008 Time: 04:22 PM Review: The best thing on tv for the last weeks, competitive cooking is the new ballroom dancing. They did draaaaaw it out a bit, and it was almost an anticlimax watching the finalists actually cook their own recipes, rather than all the rather contrived (in all ways) bits with the michelin men. Also the two over emphatic hosts (the opening where they say what they are lookig for is embarrasing), seem to pull punches and overpraise the finalists, rather than pointing out real faults, suppose they have to big up the brand. Small negatives, this was still classic tv, pudgy jonny never had a chance, and it was left to thinlipped focused floppy haired precise barrister james, and teenage inventive spotty prodigy emily. Emily kept messing up in the professional bit, enough to scupper her chances probably, she also didn't seem to need it like James did. She didn't cry enough and James won. Hurrah. We still see posh Thomisina, last years winner, in the colour supplements and Uktv food. Maybe James will actually open and cook in a restaurant. Remember Lloyd Grossman.
