Vast output of 20,000 books, input, slept with 100,000 women.   Because he wrote so many books 
they  are necessarily short, easy to carry, fast to read. Early books have stench of xenophobia.
Compelling, full of lovely sordid details. Invented Noire. Invented Blanc. Invented Maigret. Not the 
duck. The Psychology is shallow but does the job. Great writer with too much ink.
