From: art review Category: Art Date: 19 December 2007 Time: 06:59 AM Review: http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visual-arts/ I think this has been reviewed here before, but you should definitely see it before it ends this month. My top 4: Vija Celmins, great control and density of gray Marlene Dumas, who I always thought was overrated, but the school painting is darn good Elizabeth Peyton, paints her reds and blues with depth Franz Gertsch, at lucianos house makes you see time passed My bottom 4: Peter Doig, paintings with paint techniques looking a bit less hey anything goes now Malcolm Morley, the postcard is banal so is the painting Gerhard Richter, ok you know how to drag a feathery brush across the painting to blur it Richard Hamilton, always terrible So hats off to you Mr Rugoff, you know what you are doing in that horrible unloved concrete box.
