His novel G. won the booker and is hailed as the most important book of the 1970s (on its back cover). Berger definitely has an interesting voice, a mix of romantic narrative, zany but accurate metaphors, and a sort of cutting in by a social critic, the writer revealing himself without shame. G isn't bad, I wonder if it would have had a more lasting impact with a longer title.
