Although this is not his best (aquatic life is) he has the ability to create believable romantic worlds. For example in this road movie on a train, obviously set in India, where the train is supreme. You keep looking for a hole in the illusion, and perhaps in this film the funeral does pierce the fun and you begin to feel queasy about our charming hollywood stars in their pyjamas prancing around as a small boy's corpse in incinerated. The rest, from the Louis Vuitton Luggage, to the multicoloured turbans, to the markets feel likes an absurd beautiful version of some actual life. The pace is staccato and there is a lack of satisfaction in the plot, but still all the wes anderson elements are there working there magic.
