Review:

I think this is one of the most depressing books I have read. The twin concerns of ageing and the 
destruction of the amazon make for a double mopey whammy. And really it is a very personal memoir 
and one which rings with the shock of being dispossessed. Thomsen is one of those forgotten writers 
that gets discovered every so often.  Worth reading on a rainy day on a long train trip. Unlike most 
sad books it doesnt make you count your blessings though.
