The openings seem to have posher people than the others and the work is usually vaguely surrealist. Sometimes I forget that these premises are no longer Vilma Gold, and am confused by what is showing. There is something about surrealism and also pop art nowadays which smacks of commercialism and bad taste, though this must just be snobbery, as pop and sur influence everything. I guess it's like when you see a show which seems to be about life- drawing, you just think well this is all right, but why focus on it, usually an agenda behind it. Anyway because it's on Vyner Street I will continue to look at what they show despite my misgivings.
