Review:

TICKET TO RIDE

Graham Sclater, today working as a music publisher in England, has
spent several years of his active career as a musician during the
"Hamburg Sound" era in the clubs of the Hanse city.

As organist of "The Wave", "The Birds & The Bees" as well as the
"Manchester Playboys", he has gained first-hand experience of what he
describes so vividly in his debut novel of "Ticket to Ride":
Four inexperienced juvenile English beat musicians maturing in a
merciless world of prostitution, alcohol, uppers and criminality like
on some alien planet.

There are numerous books documenting the iridescent careers of those
who have made it to the very top in the world of rock'n'roll.
Sclater’s novel, however, describes - with an unusual sense of reality -
the fate of all those groups who were not quite fortunate enough to
have their dreams fulfilled.

"Ticket to Ride" is a monument to those who almost might have succeeded,
if their Commer or Bedford van had not decided to take its final breath
in the backyard of some obscure German beat club.
A highly recommended book which is currently only available in
English from: www.flamebooks.com
