From: bookie Category: Books Date: 14 May 2007 Time: 04:11 PM Review: Miguel Street. Early Naipaul, his first book though not published first. His prose always like a cool breeze on a summer day. These stories show his humour in a more obvious way than his later, more dyspeptic, books. I thought the main characters are meant to be black west indians not indian west indians, but wasn't sure, and was worried he portrayed them as child-like. Always the doubts with Naipaul. No doubt he is a great writer.
