From: Orange Category: Exhibitions Date: 24 April 2007 Time: 03:50 PM Review: I watch you you watch tv written in dust on the tv screen, furniture engraved like bored school girl, and unfinished embroideries. The Riflemakers like this wishy-washy bitty stuff, emotive, nostalgic flotsam and jetsam of life, we remember with them. Less of an exhibition more of chance to be a voyeur, other peoples lives, they look nice, interesting and unusually friendly inviting someone to stay after meeting at a party, different country. Are they real or is this an imaginary friend. My little cousin has an imaginary friend, who is real, but also eats etc. with my cousin when she's not there. Upstairs the paintings of a genius of whose press release makes me doubt his existence, Jamie Shovlin's shadow pervades Riflemaker even in his absence, the art crumbles before our eyes and he is ghost king.
