I can't think of a great British Author, except VS Naipaul, who is sort of difficult to nationalize. Writing in English, easier to find candidates: Roth, Updike, Don Delillo maybe, what about Harper Lee, a bit unproductive perhaps, JD Saliner. USA wins easily. USA USA USA. as they say. In the USA
