Review:

The University of Sussex has a formidable DVD collection. Sadly, all the gems are overnight loans,
so unless you come onto campus everyday, it is not feasible to loan them out. This means that I must
contend with the week loans, which unsurprisingly, are not as formidable. They comprise a motley
crew of forgettable WW2 films, Westerns and foreign language numbers that did not enter the
metroplitan fanbase. But, it has meant that I have learnt to appreciate the Marx Brothers in a new light.
I appreciate them for their verve, their get-up-and-go and their cunning word-play. I especially delight
in their musical outbursts that season their highly implausible plots. They occasionally make me laugh
out loud, and I never tire of their sets. I am three films into their collection. What next, maybe the Three
Stooges?
